a first
John and I have worked together on lots of designs over the past few years, from designs which I’ve created in fabric and felt, through to screen printed patterns, and then last year John created scenes that I completed with felt. These all worked really well in their own way, however they never quite achieved what I enjoyed using with fabric I bought.
Getting tiny details, being able to use just small sections of printed fabric to embellish, or highlight areas, or to line my purses. Well on the third range that he’s designed for me, John has nailed it!
This is the lining, printed on an off-white cotton,
It’s so good to see the little details of the brushstrokes of his design in each seed head.
The main fabric is printed on natural linen, from one of my fabric shops Fabrics Galore this is the first colour of the three colour print,
you can see there is a theme here!
Then we have the orange, both directly on the plain linen, and also overprinting on the green to give more depth, lastly the third and final colour,
Well, of course, it was going to be the brown! The print is quite small, I can’t use any of it yet, need to heat seal it all, which I shall start tonight and then once I have the first thing made with it I will be able to show you.
I’m so excited about this, I hope you like it as much as we do, and if you hadn’t guessed it’s called Birch!
