themes
I need to develop my work this year, been working on the Golden Grass piece, which is a bit further down the page, and I’m not sure how it’s going really, I don’t want to overwork, but I feel that I have not been developing things as well as I should have been. So, I need to set myself some themes, and targets too.
I have got myself a new sketchbook, which I will try to use in the manner I did while at college, and use it to stick inspiration in as well, well so far that is all it is!!!
So the themes I’m thinking of, I guess are reoccurring ones anyway;
wood/trees/forest
death/dying/rotting
water/movement/uncontrollable
I have used all of these in the past I think, but I want to actually work some more of them through in more detail.
I need to think about them….
anyway a couple of close up photos of the work I’m doing on ‘golden grass’…

These 2 close-ups are amazing. The detail and contrast of different fibres, textures and colours is inspired and I can’t wait to see the finished piece! I love the sound of your themes for future works and it’s great you’ve got a sketchbook for brainstorming and ideas. I’m so excited to see the progression in your work – I think it’s truly exceptional and that the next time you visit the V&A it should be to attend your own exhibition!
