calmer, but tired
it always amazes me just how much nervous energy you can run on, I think I have been for about 3 weeks now!
I still feel tired today, I hope tomorrow I will want to start sewing again!
So Handm@de is over, for now. We had over 1000 people come through the door which was amazing considering it was the first time we were running in Winchester, and it was the middle of the year rather than tied to Christmas.
I have started to get feedback in now, and one of the main ‘grumbles’ has been the lighting in the hall. This to me is a huge challenge, because you could run this event in a somewhere like a sports hall, but then you would not have the wonderful architecture of the Guildhall or the central location.
But I won’t go on about the boring stuff, it was fab, and I’m so pleased that we managed to do it and everything went smoothly! Now I have to decide what next to do with Handm@de, next year I’m thinking about do a summer and Christmas one, but is it too late to think about a Christmas for this year, especially taking into consideration all the feedback?
Oh well, the blog will get back to normal over the next week, lots of stuff to show off : )
Sorry about the break, and sorry that this post has been so dull! More fabric and nice stuff soon : )

You know, I’d be more than happy to offer my organisational services if Handm@de wanted to put a fair on in either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
I’m so glad it was a success! I just wish I lived close enough to have visited 🙂

I just wanted to let you know that I visited the Handm@de craft fair in Winchester (in fact I can spot myself in your photo!) and it was well worth all your hard work. There was a great friendly atmosphere and the products on sale were of such a beautiful quality. I hope in the future to be able to join Handm@de and become part of the lovely crafting community you have going on.

I think that the Guildhall is the perfect choice; as you said there’s the architecture and the central location. It was a pleasure to have met you and to find that there are talented people living so nearby…I’m not feeling do isolated anymore. I didn’t know you had organised the fair as well. CONGRATULATIONS! I hope I can participate on a future event.

I think the fair was a huge success. The atmosphere inside the wonderful Guildhall with all the beautifully decorated tables and such friendly sellers was something which would be hard to match anywhere. The hard work and thought put into the organisation of the event allowed it to run very smoothly. It was a tremendous privilege to meet so many enthusiastic and clever people. Thank you for letting me be a part of the day. I’d like to echo Sonia in saying CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I’ve tried to comment a couple of times to say I thought you did a great job at handm@de. I really enjoyed it and thought the venue was perfect, and I got to buy some lovely things from very talented people!

Handm@de was fabulous!! My mum and I went to the Guild craft show at the cathedral as well but I have to say that I enjoyed the handm@de show much more. It was so nice to be able to meet and chat with the makers and it was really inspiring for me. Don’t get me wrong there were some beautiful things in the other show but it felt so much more impersonal. I think it was a brilliant choice of day to have the show the same weekend as the Hat Fair – please do it again next year!! Thank you Alice!!
