the past week….
…since last Tuesday things for me have not been great, my little sister in in hospital, well she is taller than me, but 5 years younger, so maybe she is my little big sister!
She went into hospital last Tuesday afternoon with terrible lower chest and abdominal pains, and looking jaundiced. So she started off in A&E then into the Emergency Medical Assessment Unit, and now she is on a Surgical Ward. And to be honest we don’t really seem much further forward than this time last week : (
The surgical and medical team are arguing over what is wrong with her! yesterday she had a CT scan which seems to give the impression that she has had a gallstone escape and now is blocking the tube between her liver and gut, and also another stone could have escaped into her Pancreas! So tomorrow they are going to stick a camera down her throat and explore that way…
My sister in never really ill, she is the sort of person who has sprained ankles and wrists and stuff like that, but not medically ill, not hospital ill, and she is finding it very hard to deal with, especially as she back on a drip and has had a catheter inserted again.
So that is why all crafting has ground to a halt here, I have 4 finished bags, I may try and go and photograph them now the sun has come out, but everything has been very drawn out this week.
Lets hope it improves sooner rather than later, and thank you so much for all your kind words : )

Big hugs for your sister and you – I had similar several years ago and after much investigation had my gall bladder removed. Just remember this will pass and she really is in the best place – and blessed to have a caring family around her.

sounds scary, but hospital sounds like the best place for her to be right now. I hope that the camera proceedure sheds some light on the problem and they can get on with the business of making her well again. Thinking of you x

Hi Alice,
I had the same nearly two years ago now. Gall stone passing through the bile duct causing pain and jaundice. I was quite unlucky but wont go into that in detail. am fine now though. Be the best sister you can and give her all your support and love. at the same time as keeping your own little family unit going! Take care and hope your sis gets better soon. Hopefully the ERCP (the camera down her throat) will help establish what the situation is and from there the doctors will be know what to do next.

As soon as I started reading her symptoms I thought gallstones, poor girl she must have been in agony. Hope they make a full diagnosis soon and get her sorted out soon. Love and best wishes to you all.
