quiet
this week has been quiet on here, and the snow again has made the world outside quiet, but lots going on : )
Some of it is positive, but some is much more difficult, I think I have mentioned in the recent past that we have not got Edward into our secondary school of choice, what is more difficult for him/us is that he really needs to be a special needs secondary school and that there are so few really good ones in our area.
So we are now going to have to appeal which is not something I’m looking forward to, but it has to be done, because Edward deserves the best we can get for him.
So over the next few months they may be quiet periods on here, and not much new sewing, but I will be busy! I’m also organising two Handm@de fairs in Winchester, one in July, one in November. I’m also some new stuff at work which potentially involves me writing another blog, but I’ll let you know more about that when it all goes live!
So more soon, hopefully some nice new exciting stuff!

Hello. I often read but not very often leave a comment.
I (on my own and ex husband didn’t think it was worth it!!) got both my children into the secondary school I wanted / needed them to go to. My son…. because I knew if he had to go to the local one up the road he would just get in with the wrong crowd and end up as a total waster (when I see his friends who went to that school I know I was right, out drinking and smoking because it is ‘cool!!’) Where as he is top in most of his classes, picked to play rugby for county etc. So I knew I did right.
My daughter was at the local scool for 4 years but was bullied badly for most of them but I did manage to appeal for here to get accepted.
My tips. Believe in yourself 100%. Don’t go on about sats etc, over crowding or class numbers. Be 100% honest why for your son that school is so right, don’t be scared to be emotional, I blubbed all the way through Josie’s appeal, it meant so much to me.
I felt, not being overly maternal (my two are hard work!!) unbelievably protective of my children. It is scarey but you can only do your best. They do see the whole picture, they do listen, and don’t always take the schools side.
Good luck.
Colette xx

Go for it. You know what your child needs. If my son hadn’t got into the one we felt was right for him first time, we’d have moved heaven and earth to get him there. Do your appeal, keep up with your work and we’ll be here when you need us!

I feel for you with the secondary school stuff, it sounds like a stressful situation. I hope it works out for your son, all kids deserve the best education and care. I’m interested in Handm@de as a friend and I are thinking of setting up a local makers market with the same name here in country Victoria, Australia! Is it run by a committee? Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Take care and thanks for the ivisi, you have a lovely blogt xo
