1st and 2nd attempt
as I mentioned yesterday I tried to make some nuno felt, and the first piece was wrong, and I really knew that as soon as I had made it! Maybe it had something to do with the fact that there was only wool on one side, duh!
So I tried again, using the same wool tops, with a piece of silk chiffon gauze, and again, it didn’t pucker really or bubble : (
I think it maybe it is to do with the following;
1. wool is too thick
2. I didn’t felt it enough
these both prove one thing to me, I’m impatient, or maybe I could just say I didn’t not leave myself enough time to do it, I don’t know.
I will try again, as I want to make it work, now I’m leave with these odd pieces, any ideas?

What were you hoping for? Perhaps your camera is a little too close to the felt, but I really don’t see any defects. I make loads of scarves with silk on one side and wool on the other. It is all fiber art. Make lemonade with you lemons. Felt never goes to waste. What else does it look like?

Looks good! like Leah says there, I also make nuno with silk (or whatever, I;ve even tried linen and cotton) and wool on one side. I am too very impatient and when after an hour with my hands in water, nothing looks like I like, I put it 5minuts in high temperature in the drier… it gets this bubbley texture… I like it.
What wool is this?? After experimenting, I only like merino for nuno felt… or silk…the other wools are a bit thicker… doesnt look as good.
Anyway, colors are great and yeah, you could make a bag with it 🙂

It seems to me that you may have used to thick a layer of wool (a mistake I made myself the first time I tried nuno felting. I still have a hidous gren/yellow piece to prove it :-)) And as far as I know you’re only supposed to put wool on one side. It also requires a bit of patience since you have to be so carefull at first and then wait for it to be “strong” enough for you to start tossing it. That’s when it starts to look bubbly. And Marian’s suggestion of using the dryer is a good one as well.
And I love the colours, too!

Lovely colours, and your bags look fantastic!
I’ve done quite a bit of nuno felting recently, the trick is to start with water that is not too hot, and roll gently, you need to get the wool fibres to work their way through the silk before they start to felt, gradually increase the pressure of your rolling and when the fibres start poking through the silk you can begin throwing, this should give you a lovely puckered surface to your silk.
