Happy Birthday Blog!

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

and John, as you both share the same birthday : )

I have been doing this now for three years, which is really quite shocking, I know I have been a bit quiet recently, but after Easter I will try harder, I promise!

needle_stitching

But as a thank you to all my lovely blog readers, both lurkers and comment makers : ) I would like to make a special birthday offer to you!

I thought they would look better on some cushions than a bra : )

together_wide_blog

did I say I was pleased with these, oh yes, I think I may have done already!
These are now in the shop, as it is nice and easy to photograph these, rather than the bag which can be quite difficult to do, though I hope they will be done this Saturday if the weather holds out!

Last night I sold one of my Eric Carle inspired bags, not only did selling something make me smile, I am so pleased that the bag will be going to a great home, and that really is a good feeling : ) And talking of Eric Carle, I’ll leave you will another detail of a new bag, which features a bit more of him!

almost a week

I can’t believe it, I think maybe because I’m using twitter I’m not noticing if I don’t blog as often as I have in the past!

fluff_blog

Today I finally finished the six bags I have been working on, the image above is from one of them. I’m especially pleased with that one, it has turned out exactly how I wanted, bit unusual really : )

brownbuds_blog

That’s another one as well : )

Once I had finished them today I was able to work on a new idea, and it has worked out perfectly! So pleased that it has turned out so well, I will be able to photograph it tomorrow and I will upload it here.

Going back to twitter, it is funny looking back at what I have done during the day, the past couple of days include me getting cross at Living etc (still seething about that!), getting my glasses sorted, and eating yukky cottage cheese, and I bought two tubs of the stuff, urgh!

Anyway, I will show the cushion off tomorrow!

knocking noise

that has been the problem at the front end of my car for quite a while, and hopefully by the end of tomorrow it will be gone, all repaired, I hope : )

This week I seem to have spent my time changing cars, so not much has really got done at home, but I think I have, just not sure when!

Here is another design that I’ve been working on,

peas_blog

and these arrived earlier this week : )

moo_blog

Woo, new moo cards, I also need to get some of the business cards as well, but I need to sell some stuff first!

Is everyone just skint, bored with bags and my stuff, or something else?

Anyway, back to the grindstone, maybe a cup of tea first!

Alot of pfaffing about

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

A real shame about the cricket yesterday, yet again I was following the cricket around the house, in the kitchen while having tea, then sat in front of the computer listening to TMS. I guess it is typical, we get so close, and then it’s gone!
But William is learning about the wonders of cricket, so my listening is doing some good : )

A little something I have been working on,

orangebud_blog

So getting back to the title of my post! Yesterday I had a very annoying experience with Pfaff : (

I lost my manual for my machine years ago, and it has always bugged me that I don’t get the full potential out of my machine basically I don’t know how everything actually works! I also needed to take it apart and give it a good clean : )

So I rang the UK ‘customer service’ number to see if I could get some help in tracing a copy, you would think this would be the right place to start, well I was wrong, very wrong!

Firstly I spoke to a lady who answered the phone, I would have like her to have been polite, but rather she was curt and unhelpful, and somehow expected me to know the entire recent history of Pfaff! And the end result was that, no, they couldn’t help me.
In a nutshell Pfaff went bust about 10 years ago, and was bought out by another company, the company that now owns the name and produces sewing machines under that name.

So I asked if there was anyone else who may be able to help me, and she put me through to a man who ‘might’ be able to help me. I recounted the whole story of the lost manual to him, and then he just said no, he couldn’t help me, they don’t print stuff for old machines, especially for machines pre their purchase of the Pfaff name. I can understand that, however I explained that lots of other manufacturers have manual online as PDFs, and he carried on and on about how they didn’t do that, and basically I couldn’t get a copy of my manual.
This may not seem like a great deal, but it was their attitude to me, and to the old Pfaff company stank, and this in turn has turned me off using their ‘new’ products.

(by the way if you have a manual for a Pfaff varimatic 6085 I will happily pay you for a photocopy!)

I’m rambling, so I’ll shut up!

Don’t forget the corsage/mothers day offer running in both my Etsy and Folksy shops!

busy

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

I think that is why there have been a general lack of posts recently.

Edward is over his tonsillitis thankfully, and today I got back my car after it being serviced, though it does need to go back on Thursday to have a bit more work on it, so for the past 10 days I have been driving my mother in laws Corsa, which has been interesting : )

I had the felting demo last week, which was great, and I’ve been trying to make bags and lots of corsages, many of which are now on Folksy and Etsy.

I have been trying to come up with new designs and ways of working, if you read my twittering you may have read the struggles I have been having, but I feel like I am turning a corner! What do you think,

greenblue_blog

I have quite a few more to show as well, but I’ll save those for another day : )

I’ve also been trying to cook more food from scratch, on Sunday, everything we ate, I made! Hurrah! Pancakes for breakfast, Fish Pie for lunch and Cheesy Bread for tea,

bread

And then last night William and I made soup and more bread! Though tonight we had fish and chips because of the lateness of getting back after picking up the car, so I’m very pleased with myself, what shall I make tomorrow?

special, special, special…

…offer : )

Yes, I have returned from the fog of listing corsages on Folksy which almost made my eyes bleed!

To make up for this, I have this for you!

To celebrate Mothering Sunday in the UK, on Sunday 22 March I have a special offer running : )

If you buy two felt corsages, you get a third one free!
So buy something for your mum, your partners mum, and get something for yourself for free!!!!
This offer will run until midnight on 18 March, to allow for delivery in time for Mothers Day.

Checkout with the three corsages and then wait for a revised Paypal invoice : )

This offer is only open to UK residents, I will be running a similar event at the end of April/start of May for other countries.

This is an example of one of the seven corsages in my Folksy shop. In my Etsy shop there are 13 to choose from, and I hope to be adding some more depending on the light I can get to photograph them!

So get in there and have a look and choose a few!

I will try to do a proper blog post later, this one just feels like I’m just trying to sell you stuff, oh wait, I am!!

chocolate

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

is yummy! But we all know that, no I’m talking about a chocolate coloured item,

chocolate_1_blog

Another new corsage in the shop, there are now eight new ones in there and all looking lovely. Thanks for the feedback on the way I’m now photographing them, it works so much better, but I will need to borrow Johns camera to take photos of the red ones, as my camera freaks out!

It has been a quiet blogging week as Edward has been off school for a week with tonsillitis, a Strep A infection. I don’t think I can remember him seeming this ill for a long time : ( He was running a temperature of over 100 F for 5 days, and most of that time it was over 102 F : ( But he is on penicillin and that has now taken effect and he is back today which is great for all of us : )

Last night I had my Womens Institute demonstration and it went very well! They were all very nice, and watched and listened, it was a very positive experience. I’m hoping that it may lead to me doing a workshop with them, which would be great as I could then add this to my crafting CV!

I made one piece there and I had made some demo pieces as well, which were very successful I think as they showed the elements you can add to the wool.

felt_blog

I now have a bit more confidence to do this sort of thing with children as well, so another line to look at, I think I’m waffling!
So off to hoover I go!
