hail

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

to me, no not really!

It hailed very hard today, not nice, just taken a new photo, not great, but it will have to do!

joel_blog.jpg

I got the Joel Dewberry fabric yesterday in the post, mmmm, to make some new bags with, with to use of some bags, the colours don’t show on here, but it duck-egg blue and sage green, lovely.

I have a question : ) I have more page requests for the Gingerbread men recipe than for anything else, every day, and most searches that lead to this blog are for that too, so should I do more recipes? Not that this a popularity thing, but getting more people here can’t be a bad thing! Would anyone be interested?

tra-la!

They are done, and in the shop,

dandelion_blog1.jpg

However, that one, the dandelion one has already gone, and went in under 5 minutes I think, because I had a lurker! And I thought she was just being nice with her previous comments, now I know better!

But this one,

seed_blog.jpg

Is still there, and looking lovely, and very reasonably priced I feel : )

So they are done, and now the next ones. I had a crisis, I had started another blue and brown one, and the idea seemed so good in my head, probably too good, and then, well cut out and laid out, it just didn’t work, at all : ( So I think I will save that idea for another day, and work on some others first.

Ok, Australia, big island, not that many people, you know the place, well I sold both of these lovely cushions to go to a lovely lady in Sydney, I’d been really careful when working out the postage prices, because I knew I could get stung big time otherwise. So I got a great big box, and wrapped them up, sealed in the cushions, and happy, because it was nice and light and well wrapped.

Got to the post office, said to my the fab lady in charge ‘It’s going to Australia’ to which she laughed, hmm, not the reaction that I expected, then it all got expensive! Putting them in the box, together, was a bad move, it suddenly became £30 to send them!!! Almost the value of the cushions!!! I was advised to go away, do the separately, and go back. So I did this, and of course, it was fine, and they have gone. So remember folks, don’t send massive parcels to the land of Oz unless you are prepared to spend some serious dosh!

Ok, more stuff, William and the amazing poo story!

Well he has pooed, almost every day since Friday, woohoo, however it has not improved his behaviour, and today I had to collect him before lunch today…….. what can I say, it is almost like he is going through terrible twos again, has anyone else had a 6 year boy do this? Please?

Well enough of poos and parcels, tomorrow, more nice things, I promise!

Yep, they are finished,

brown_bags.jpg

but John needs to photograph them properly a bit later this afternoon! I hope to have them in the shop by 8pm at the latest, as I have 2 hours of Lost to watch as well!!

The dandelion one will be $39 and the seed pods will be $33, both will have P&P added to that : )

Today has not been great, but I will bore that with you later, and the trials of sending cushions to Australia!

bit late

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

but I’ve had a busy evening : )

as tonight I went to see Juno,

juno.jpg

it isn’t out until 8th February, but I went to a pre-release screening, and it was fab, really good, and certainly well worth of its four Academy nominations.

I would recommend it to anyone who has been in love as a teenager : )

I hope to have decent light to finish the bags, and take some photos, failed today, sorry : (

no light

the light has died : ( And I am only about to stitch on the handles, duh!

Tomorrow!

tease

Monday, January 28th, 2008

I don’t think I am, but I will explain why so many of my photos appear to be so! It is because I can hold the camera steady if it is leaning on the desk! So they tend to be macro shots!

and another, but a bit more,

dandelion_blog.jpg

I think this is a bit clearer? They are dandelion seed heads, and I have now sown all the buttons on, so I’m getting to the point where it can turn into a bag, tra-la!

Right now some links for you, Aunty Shabby is the sister of Greenolive, so yes, another knitting freak, it is a mystery to me, the knitting I mean! Go take a peek, she has just started her blog, and Flickr stream!

Also today I won a copy of Selvedge, from the lovely Sally, woohoo, so also has a lovely Etsy shop too, go see!

No poo news today, don’t worry I’ll let you know when I have something exciting to tell you!!

seed heads

seed_heads_blog.jpg

I haven’t done much more today, other than lay out where I what my teeny tiny buttons to go : ) I had intended that I would only make 2 of these chocolate brown bags initially, but now I have ideas for another two, and a natural one as well, so more to come!

But I am going to try to get at least two in the shop by Tuesday! Yeah, I know, heard that before!

Also if you have gone to my shop and expected to find corsages, well they should be back by the end of Monday, they are with one of the people at Edwards school, but should be back tomorrow : )

And another thing, William has lost another tooth, the one next to the first, and he had to do it a la Lola! So it came out in an apple, I would say he staged it, but not even he could have been that clever ?!?

brown and blue

cut some lovely soft linen, done some sewing, pleased so far,

blue_pod_blog.jpg

I also wanted to bring you up to date with the joy of having a non-pooing child!

On Thursday we went to the doctors and he administered an enema, urgh, and William was not impressed, as I’m sure you can imagine! So we went home and waited, we didn’t have to wait long, about 90 minutes, and well I won’t describe the result, other than we had waited 2 weeks for this!!!!!!

So he went back to school yesterday, as far as I knew we could try to have a quiet few days regarding the pooing, calm it all down, alas, maybe I was too hasty thinking that!

When I collected him from school, he had produced more in the afternoon, oops, and the head had to help him, double oops! So maybe that is it on the extreme front, and maybe we can have some normal movements, but of course we don’t know what normal is, so wait and see!

Now on a more cheery note, the knitting roll was really appreciated!

needles.jpg

Now I doubt any of you are going to rush to me to ask for one, but if you are tempted too, I must warn you now, it will be far more expensive than some of the ones I have seen on Etsy! So ask at your peril!!!

blue and brown

Friday, January 25th, 2008

I love the combination of these two colours, even though before I would never have considered the two together. At Christmas I bought John this print, and I love it, I love the design, the colours, the simplicity. So from this inspiration and music I’m listening to, I am working on ideas for some bags that will be on chocolate linen, and shades of blue.

blue_brown_blog.jpg

I think I prefer the bluey greens to start with first, they sit nicer together on this, maybe it is the texture as well, but I have lots of lovely linen too to use. I want to use some of my other stash too, as recently I do not seem to have used as much!

I have some updates on the youngest child and pooing, but I’ll save that for later : )

What do you think?

Here they are together,

together_blog.jpg

These are now both on Etsy, even though I think John would like to keep them, but I have more to come : )

Just a quick thank you to everyone who comes to my blog for the gingerbread men recipe, please have a look at other stuff too!
