paper cuts
not the sort that makes you wince in pain, how could such a tiny cut hurt so much, but the sort like this,
how much do I love this! I got the same Rob Ryan papercut print in this version for John for Valentines Day : ) It is as much for me as him, as I love it so much, and will probably frame it and keep it, only way I’ll afford one of his! As the screenprint version shown above is $470 in his Etsy shop!
Another papercut artist on Etsy who I love her dark and wonderful imagination is Elsita, her work is stunning,
There is something so theatrical about this art form which I love, maybe one day I could get one of her originals……. Anyway I thought I would just do a little post of about some of the things I love, which of course as mentioned include my lovely JB : ) Happy Valentines Day!

I love Rob Ryan’s papercuts – so cool. Have you seen them on the skirts at ClothKits too? If you fancy having a go yourself, try this book – the author has great style so the projects are very funky! http://bit.ly/dsPF3f

I love papercut art too. Have you seen the papercut and silhouette art of Jan Pienkowski? http://www.amazon.co.uk/First-Christmas-Jan-Pienkowski/dp/0141500972/ref=pd_sim_b_1 – his book of the Christmas Story. He has also done an Easter one and lots of others (not all papercut silhouettes – eg. Meg and Mog).
I did some papercut art for a while. It was good fun, but takes soo long. I made Christmas cards one year, with a design of holly and ivy and another of a deer by a fir tree. It took so long, I only made about 4 or 5 cards. I had to save them for special people and make the rest in a more “normal” way!

I love papercuts. Hand cutting is such a painstaking process, but it looks so effective!
I recently discovered a new shop on Etsy that does hand-cut papercut cards. I think they’re pretty unknown at the moment, but I think the shop has great potential!

I love it!

Hi
Just found your blog on the dorset cereals thing!
It was so lovely to see that card- I too bought it for MrP for Valentines Day- but really for myself – it was special this year we got married on valentines day so the card has gone into my (work in progress) wedding scrapbook so I can go back and love it whenever I want
