Monday, March 8th, 2010

No, that is not a siren! That is me, very very excited, because of this!!

Whoooooooo! Is that enough whoooing yet? : )

Want to see more, then go and have a look at this : ) And you can buy them here.

I simply cannot add any more to that, other than I’m now also listening to Bishop Allen, all rather lovely and wonderful : )

paper cuts

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

not the sort that makes you wince in pain, how could such a tiny cut hurt so much, but the sort like this,

how much do I love this! I got the same Rob Ryan papercut print in this version for John for Valentines Day : ) It is as much for me as him, as I love it so much, and will probably frame it and keep it, only way I’ll afford one of his! As the screenprint version shown above is $470 in his Etsy shop!

Another papercut artist on Etsy who I love her dark and wonderful imagination is Elsita, her work is stunning,

There is something so theatrical about this art form which I love, maybe one day I could get one of her originals……. Anyway I thought I would just do a little post of about some of the things I love, which of course as mentioned include my lovely JB : ) Happy Valentines Day!

one for me….

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

…not one for anyone else!

er, yes, this is the design for the front of my new bag, it should be finished, but it isn’t : (

I now need it finished, it is a much bigger bag to hold all my farm work stuff, fed up with walking around carrying pads and bits of paper, it doesn’t make me look important, makes me look messy instead!
Also on Friday a quite rude and dozy woman serving me at Costa managed to spill almost an entire cup of Americano down me and my bag, so I want to get this finished!

Doing two blogs is quite hard work, though it is quite easy to write about yummy food! I’m doing a promo and giveaway on the farm blog. The promo is for organic sirloin steaks, and the giveaway, well that involves steak, and ice cream!! So if you are in the UK, head over here and have a look : ) I know it is naughty for me to keep on going on about ‘my’ other blog, but it is now part of me, and I wouldn’t if I didn’t think you wouldn’t be interested!

Yesterday John photographed some of my haberdashery items to add to his portfolio,

you can see more of them here, and I think you’ll agree they are rather wonderful : )

Hopefully my next post will be about a finished bag!!

caught

by the the beauty of someones art is wonderful, and even though I have many prints and quite a few original pieces in our house, it is always fantastic finding someone new!

I discovered Anna through the power of Twitter with the help of Laura and Lucie : ) Through their comments I found her blog and her shop, and came away with this,

anna_large

not the best of photographs, you can see it better here, and a little close up,

anna_cu

When I saw this on Annas blog, I fell in love, and then I realised it was an original watercolour, not a print as I had originally thought, and that was that, I had to have it!

So now I have it, and it will be on our half landing wall as soon as I get to Ikea and get a frame! And then I will have to get another so it doesn’t get lonely! Please go visit her blog and her shop!

Now something else that arrived in the post,

linen_pile_blog

lovely green shades of linen, mmmm so lovely, can’t wait to use it, feeling quite creative, but not having the time : ( Next week maybe : )

Open Studios this weekend, then a week and a half before term starts : ) Then before you know it, Christmas will be here!

funny hands

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

they feel funny, like a bit shiny, polished even. I don’t know if other wet felters get this, but I guess after spending three hours yesterday felting, and another three today it is understandable that something odd might happen to the palms of my hands!

Well a week off now : ) Today was really good, more visitors, more sales, and it was sunny, so everything looked even better : ) It is lovely being in Penny and Carolines studio, a totally different feeling than being at home, and so much light! Also being with artists/crafters from a different discipline helps too, makes you see things in a different light.

Having said that though I have been looking through some of my Flickr favourites and looking at the fabric pieces in there, and I jst wanted to share a few with you, don’t do enough of this anymore, so this is a bonus post!

3780809339_ce9d180307_b

this is by Marty Jonas a fibre artist, I love the colour and shape in it, simple and really striking, I do love blues and greens though : )

3732481486_3bc61be371_o

this is by Jude Hill I love the softness of the colours, the feeling of warmth, even though they are quite cool colours, and her blog is full of her work made from the most lovely fabrics, the way they are put together, tiny pieces is fab!

and lastly,

3438084598_542d29b8d1_o

I really love Cathys work, and would love to get a piece of her work, soon, maybe Christmas (you reading this John!). Have a look at her blog and her Flickr, because there is so much beauty there, I want to be able to touch them, feel them, I know that is wrong, but that is what I would like to do!
She also has an Etsy shop, empty at the moment, but I would say keep an eye on her blog.

So I hope you like them as well, tomorrow, well it is another day, and another bag, a commission, so fingers crossed!!

all mine!

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

oh yes, all mine : )

mine

I love Kates beads, I know she is my sister in law, but they feel so nice against the skin, and this one has so much depth to it, just lovely.

If you like what you see above, her Flickr stream is here, and her shop is here, I have found always to keep an eye on Flickr, because if not you go to the shop and it has already sold!

You know those pouches, well you are saved from ‘another’ image of linen and felt, but good news, they are almost complete!! a piccie tomorrow.

Here is something else I want, I’m sure I can find a space for it, soon : )

Also meant to say I have re-listed these today : )

back-tack

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

something I forgot to blog about, I think I need one of those laminated passes on a lanyard to hang around my neck so I don’t forget things anymore!

A while ago I signed up to do Back-tack 4, and I got in, yay! I have never done one of these swap thingys before so it is very exciting : ) The theme is Gold Frankincense and Myrrh and I’m looking forward to making some things I would not normally do! My partner is Amanda, go and say hello at her blog!

Now of course I will not be able to show anything off until Amanda has her goodies, but I might try to post some sly photos : )

I hope you all remembered to change the clocks this morning, all I can say is I’m very pleased our clock radio is a DAB one, so it does it all on its own!

4. Make felt for new corsages

5. Design and make up some across the body bags with closures – arghhhh!

6. Make another knitting bag : )

7. Make at least one more daisy bag for my sister

8. Design and make some more of my standard bags

9. Prepare for We Make Oxford on Sunday 9th November!

10. complete ideas for folding tote and pouch

So not really that much! and the summer holidays start next Thursday, a wedding the following weekend, I mean, what is wrong with me, or is everyone like this?

Have a lovely Friday!! (ADHD clinic, here we come!!)

having a go

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

is always worthwhile, trying something new, I think : )

I tried lampworking with my sister-in-law last week, and it was a really enjoyable experience, very relaxing and calming, no noise, lots of lovely colours of glass, and other twinkly things! And so above you see the results, though one is well out of focus, my arty shot didn’t quite come off!

The one on the piece of metal is stuck there : ( The bead release cracked while I was making the bead and so now the glass in stuck to the mandrel, but Kate does hope to release it!

She now has her little shed and new torch so she is doing some lovely new stuff which most of which you can find in her new shop!

I would like to have another go, but this time not to try all the pretty things at once!

tidy, wash, hoover..

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Yes I should be doing all of those things, and shall try later, but for now, feast your eyes upon this,

I’m really pleased with this one, this is only a little bit of it, and it will be in the shop tomorrow with another 3 designs, which I’m also pleased with.

Hmm I sound too pleased with myself, I would like to thank everyone who has left such lovely comments on my last post, I think the most important thing at the moment is trying to keep an open mind, and be patient, it’s the patience thing I lack, but trying : )

Also a couple of other things, thanks Martine for writing such lovely things about me in her Mixtape article, so nice : ) And also go check out this blog by Lisa, she makes graphical handmade cards, very bright and lovely, she also had the patience of a saint by waiting for her Raspberry bags to arrive! So go have a look : )

And to everyone recently who has sent me awards and memes I have not forgotten they are there in a folder in my e-mail staring at me with beady eyes, I promise I will sort it out!!
