pulling ideas

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

the last batch of bags I finished was a breeze the ideas and designs came quite freely, but the next lot, well they are sitting there, or the desk opposite, and I’m sitting here, thinking….

trying to get some ideas….

I know they will come, but I don’t like the wait : (

I do love this colour : )

shame I don’t have much more of that fabric, but back to the desk!

On other matters, I currently find myself quite smitten with Tom Hardy, seen as Eames in Inception,

it is totally his character in the film I’m smitten with, as I haven’t seen him in anything else, as yet.

And on that happy note I will leave in a haze of mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……..

picking up speed

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

that’s what it feels like, over the past 6 months I have barely blogged, didn’t use my sewing machine for 5 months and making felt seemed like a long way off.

So even though I’m not doing that much, I do feel like I’m picking up speed!

I bought some tiny mother of pearl buttons,

they are teeny tiny! And more importantly I have put my Etsy shop back online, and filled it with stock I would like to sell to clear the way for new designs. So I have a summer sale! Whooo!

Today I want to make/create, work on ideas, and do some of the boring sewing stuff, but definitely moving forward!

On another matter, we went and saw Inception a couple of nights ago, and blimey charlie it was AMAZING!!! I want to try and go and see it at the IMAX cinema in Southampton this week, I can’t wait!

happy

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

weird, two blogs I follow, greenolive and Domesticali have both written posts today about what makes them happy, well this makes me happy,

more beads from Kate! They are so tactile, just so lovely to have round your neck : )

so what else, well I’m not going to get into a list, I could be here for hours! But I would say the following going on the past few days,
listening to Spoons new album
cutting out little leaves from linen and some of my favourite fabric
and
watching The Wire, just finished Season 3, watched the first of Season 4 tonight

a few things, oh and something to make me happy next week, the last season of Lost starts!!!!!

on the edge

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

we are not great watchers of tv, and I guess the BBC iPlayer, and DVD boxsets have compounded that!

We tend to go through phases of watching programmes, and we are currently gripped by The Wire, we have the last episode of Season Two to watch!
Last night watching the penultimate episode tied my stomach in knots, so I hate to think how I will feel after the last one! It was the level of expectation, and feeling on the edge, I felt exhausted after watching it!

I would love to explain all the whys and wherefores of what happened, but now having been drawn into I would never give anything away! It really is must watch tv, it is amazing and as good, if not better than all the reviews, so give it a go!

I’m currently in the midst of turning all the wool rovings I bought last week into felt, and then corsages,

wip

as you can see it is going quite well, and I have some vintage wooden cotton reels as well, I want to use these as props in my product photos, what do you think?

front page, dent, and Lost

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

work up this morning to find this,

blog

Yay! Didn’t get much off the back of it, but very positive, haven’t had one for an age! So thanks Quercus for making the Treasury : )

Now the dent, hmmm, all my fault, and the bit of bloody metal that Sainsburys put round their *beep, beeping* trolley parks, why? Why protect them, with bits of metal which are like scaffolding tubes, bugger! Well there is now a long dent in the side door, to add to the other dents I have created over the past 6 months : ( Maybe I’m losing my spacial awareness, hmm…

Just like to say thank you for all the lovely comments about Baggy, I told him, and he purred, and very pleased with himself purr!

Right, Lost! Lordy lordy, where to start? I LOVE Lost, I love love love it! When each episode ends, I feel a sense of desperation of having to wait a week for the next one, and excitement of another one watched!
The problem is I don’t think I can explain about what is so fantastic about it, there is so much, so many levels of detail and story. There is all the back story, which with every episode grows longer and longer. There is the the present, equally hard to even get your head around, and then the potential future, or is that the past??
I think the other thing about it is that it doesn’t fit into one type of genre, it crosses over, sci-fi, character lead, thriller, it is just wonderful, sigh…

And you know that some of the eye candy can’t hurt either!!! Sorry I couldn’t help but drop to the lowest common denominator!!

rogues and scoundrels

Friday, February 27th, 2009

why are they so damned attractive!?

This is the question, and comes from yesterday lunchtime at a friends house (by the way Tracy, best flan, pie, tart thing ever!), I mentioned Lost, and then of course, if you are talking about Lost, you are talking about Sawyer!

Then this lead to Jack Sparrow, and then my long standing fav, who describes himself as a rogue and scoundrel, Han Solo!

rogues

For me Han Solo will always have to win, I have grown up swooning over him, but there is something about Sawyer, his smart quips, his pain, his physical abilities! I’m smirking while writing this!
And then Jack Sparrow, I think Johnny Depp is fab, and so I don’t think I can really see this character without him, so it doesn’t have so much of the appeal.

So ladies, which one for you, or who else, and you are not allowed to say your loved ones, he must be a rogue or scoundrel, and when you think of him it must make you smirk!!

mmmm felt feels so soft, makes my hands not feel so great, but it feels great when it is dry : )

four_fleece_blog

I have made 6 new pieces to make corsages from, as it has taken me quite a while to work out that corsages sell all your round, not just for Christmas!

I also am going to make some more landscape/pictorial pieces as well, might go and do that now while I listen to the cricket, which is now all go.

This morning we went and saw Bolt, which was good, and we all enjoyed it very much, a good half term film, in case you are looking for something to do this week.

So if I do make some more felt I will let you see it : )

bearders

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

maybe January is the month, but I don’t like it and I want it to end : (

Yesterday Bill Frindall died, now I guess to most people who reads my blog that name means nothing, and even if I explain who he was it will still mean little to you, but I’ll try.

Bill, or Bearders or the The Bearded Wonder was another voice from my childhood and growing up, and as recently as just before Christmas listening to TMS (Test Match Special). He was the scorer and statistician and had been since 1966, he was always in the commentary box during both overseas and home test matches and could always be relied on to correct everyone, especially the scoreboard of the ground they were at.

You can read more about him here and some of the tributes to him here, they can probably explain what a great loss it is.

Also yesterday my new linen arrived,

linen_blog1

I need to wash it, but I can’t wait to use it, I had if I’m honest lost some of my crafting/creative mojo, but when a lovely chunk of linen arrives it sort of kicks you up the bum!

I have lots of other stuff to tell you about, including my sister who helped at a road accident this week, but I shall save that one another day or later, or something, the linen is calling to me : )

listening to

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

music, and podcasts, and stuff : )

When I visit peoples blogs, quite often they have music players on them and scare me when I’ve opened a tab but are not yet looking and suddenly music starts, or they have a list of what they are listening to, as you have noticed, I don’t!

Not because I don’t like music, far from that actually, I just don’t know how you do that : ) When I’m on IM people can see what I’m listening to, and I’ve sure they probably think I have very odd tastes : )

On the music front I have been listening to Spoon, Elbow and Eagles of Death Metal all are great, but very different, go have listen!

And then on the podcast front, well I have Adam and Joe, Daily Mayo, ABC Lost, and more Simon Mayo in the form of the Kermode Film Review which is always a top form of wittertainment! If you don’t know any of these, or just don’t know about podcasts, check it out, so much stuff sitting there waiting to be heard and enjoyed.

Sewing, er yes, well I’m in the middle of finishing the knitting bags! I hope you were all sitting down to read that! Also I have moved some more stuff to my Folksy shop, so go have a look and buy in sterling!

earning

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

the right to feel that what you are doing is right, that is how I feel quite often. Don’t worry this isn’t going to be one of ‘those’ posts!

I don’t do resolutions, because I can’t keep them, situations change, and well I don’t be to be reminded a whole year later that I have failed at another thing!

I want this year to feel that I have ‘earned’ things, because sometimes I feel like I am here simply to facilitate other peoples requirements, now I know that isn’t the case, but I often feel that way!

I also want to be to say no, and for people to accept it, this seems to be quite a hard thing, that you know sometimes I don’t want to do things because I have always done them, and I have been happy to do them, sometimes saying no is the right thing to do for my sanity!

I can’t think of anything else at the moment, these were in my head and so therefore could not remain there!

Last night and today were great, we did different things to normal, it shook the boys up, and made them whine about other things and got us out and about.
So at least I have made a start, but no resolution!

p.s. maybe some piccies tomorrow, too busy today making pancakes, fry-ups and watching a film!
